I wanted to try the micro coil on the gennys but I thought the vid was great Rocc and it got me motivated to try to build one on my Reo Grand. I made 3 coils before I got one that looked good - but even though my 9/8 wrap of 32g wire looks right, its ohms is still in the high 3s to low 4s - and feeding in the cotton was a very difficult task for me , my eyes are strained to their limits working on these coils.  The final outcome vapes nice enough, but would be a lot better if I could get the darn ohms down.  What would be the # of wraps to get a 2 ohm micro coil with 32g wire ???

thats odd mate......my similar set up comes out at around 1.3 ohms

how are you testing the resistance? with a multimeter? if so, remember you need to touch the multimeter contacts together 1st and then subtract that reading number from the reading you get from your coil (you probably know that already, but thought i would mention it just in case, lol)

To test the ohms I just move the atty onto my zmax of provari ;). Got frustrated and went back to a 4/3 wrap 0.16 nic chrom wire on the era atty on my Reo.  The fluorescent lighting at work just isn't cutting it with my eyes. I did heat my coils up on the micro coils and then squeezed them (repeated till they seemed fused), and even though it would glow up bright just like in the vid, something still isn't right.  :'(

How have you been getting on with your micro coils Igetcha and what pros and cons have you found with this method? I have found it relatively easy to set up and get very consistent wicking, not 1 problem in the last week. Also the capillary action flows slightly better as more of the mesh is being heated. I am getting less of a fizz off the vape which I tend to get with mesh setups but this could be because I have silica running through the middle. With regards to the silica I have found this keeps the mesh nice and wet but also adds to the flavour. All in all fantastic and will be using this setup for the forseeable future.

hi mate,

not really noticed any negatives as such........my thoughts are the same as yours as i too find it pretty easy to set up, wicks great and performs well! definitely a far smoother and less intense vape, but overall i quite like it :)

Thanks for the reply bud, good to hear a similar response. I'm not seeing much difference with battery life either. So all in all good good.  ;D

My first attempt at a micro coil with cotton wick...I think I might need thicker wire.... but it does vape very well..I had to borrow Fayes Cruiser as it has a bigger cup  ;D

Can I assume that the cotton burns once the juice runs out then? So is it better somehow or just old school?
